The New Yorker reports (in the upcoming August 31, 2009 issue) that "since the disputed Iranian Presidential elections of June 12th, about a hundred reformist politicians, journalists, student activists, and other dissidents have been accused of colluding with Western powers to overthrow the Islamic Republic." According to this report, there are allegations of rape and other abuses in the prisons while the ongoing show trials include forced confessions, and worse.
Earlier this week, U.S.-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported that there is video evidence that alleges the regime buried 44 unidentified protesters in unidentified graves at a cemetery south of Tehran. As this tragedy continues to unfold in Iran, President Obama has yet to declare how the US and the rest of the Free World should respond to Iran's outrageous abuses. We are still waiting for the President to see "how this whole thing played out" per his June 23rd press conference. It has been two months, Iranians are still dying, being tortured, and worse. Meanwhile, the President is playing golf in Martha's Vineyard.
